Intelligent Job Entry
Job entry sets up orders quickly and accurately using settings customized for your lab. Operators quickly adapt to Innovations well-designed graphics, clear text, and familiar Windows® controls. The result is a job entry process that uses sophisticated computing to make complex order entry comfortable, accurate, and fast. Windows user interface Text and graphics present more information in an easily understood layout. Operators can rapidly jump between screens or data items using standard Windows® commands.
Rapid data entry All items can be entered rapidly from the keyboard. Common jobs require the fewest entries. Items such as prism are skipped for simple prescriptions, but can still be accessed with a single keystroke for more complex jobs. Immediate feedback Error checking occurs with each entry, rather than after an entire form has been filled out. Online help Help screens can be accessed any time to describe job entry items and software controls. Orders entered as written Prescription entry is intuitive, since it mimics a written Rx. Information is entered in a form the prescriber and order entry operator are comfortable with. For instance, cylinder can be entered in a plus form and will be transposed to minus on the screenl. Numbers entered with or without decimal points ("-4.75 and "475" are both acceptable).
"Smart" drop-down lists To simplify and speed up the choice of options, lists appear with only those items that make sense for the job at hand. User defined configurations Job entry procedures followed in your lab will also be used by Innovations. On screen job summary A complete job summary builds up at the bottom of each screen as data is entered. This summary is always visible, no matter where the operator is in the order entry process. In addition, the operator can jump to any job entry screen by selecting the corresponding row in the job summary. Interfaces to other systems A developer's kit will be available to those who want to interface their own order entry system to Innovations.
Lens Calculations
Innovations performs all surface and finish layout calculations automatically. A comprehensive database includes manufacturer-supplied curves, surfacing charts, and topographical maps for accurate processing of single vision, multifocal, and aspheric lenses. Lens selection can take place automatically based on prescription, frame trace, and material preference. Detailed machine settings can be printed or sent electronically to machine interfaces. Lens Calculation and Processing features include: Master lens database This database allows automatic blank selection and inventory control by selecting appropriate lenses and displaying stock status. The data is refreshed in periodic lens updates that are included with annual service support contracts. Adaptable lens selection Innovations provides flexible lens selection by using a three-pass selection process as it searches for the most appropriate stocked lens for the prescription and frame. When no lenses in a particular category are in-stock, lab-specified "preferred alternates" are chosen instead. If an appropriate blank cannot be found, Innovations displays the largest available blank and the frame trace, allowing the operator to move the lens in the frame to achieve cut-out, then automatically recalculates PD and seg height. Centralized data management When new lenses are introduced, automatic updates to your database will be available on CD-ROM or via Email. Base curve selection Base curve selection charts can be modified to suit lab preferences or to select a flatter base curve as is often needed for half-eye glasses. Lens Explorer format The lens database is presented in the same way files are shown in Windows® Explorer. Access to lens data is more intuitive and settings for each category are easier to manage. Online help Online help provides explanations of terms and procedures. Comprehensive worktickets Innovations worktickets show settings for most equipment. The level of detail and layout can be modified to serve the needs of individual labs. Customized worktickets The workticket designer enables customization of existing worktickets or the production of entirely new designs. The workticket browser allows you to browse on-screen all of the worktickets produced for each order.

Job Tracking
Job Tracking gives you the ability to monitor job status throughout your lab. Job Tracking Features Include: Windows®user interface Graphic controls, drop-down menus and online help make for intuitive operation. Multi-tasking lets you track jobs without interrupting other programs.
Tracking by Job Entry Status The first action in job entry is to assign a job category which can be tracked. Any number of labels can be created. Multiple update methods Job status can be updated when tray numbers are logged in at a PC station or scanned into a bar code network. Innovations also uses machine requests for data to locate jobs. Orders can find themselves Jobs can be flagged and assigned a text message as well. When the order is subsequently logged into a device with the ability to display the message, it will do so.
Bar code networks can be set to flash the wand light or to print a message at a central location when the job is scanned. Track critical jobs separately Jobs considered critical can be flagged as such and will appear separately on tracking reports. Complete job history You can view a job's complete history, along with its current status.
Inventory and Purchasing
The Inventory and Purchasing Manager tracks lens usage, generates purchase orders, and maintains inventory counts and back-order status. Inventory levels are shared with the lens database, ensuring that lenses chosen by the lens calculation programs are actually in stock. Inventory reports are generated using the Inventory Reports Module. Inventory and Purchasing Manager Features Include: Windows® user interface Manipulate and view inventory data using a mouse and intuitive graphics.
Multi-tasking lets inventory tasks such as purchase order generation continue to run while other programs are in use. Online vendor information The software maintains data for each vendor including contact names, addresses, payment terms and shipping references. Purchase order generation Order quantities are determined by replacing inventory items by using three methods: simple replenishment, minimum quantity, and order point ordering methods. Purchase orders can be generated for some or all of the vendors. Sets of preferred vendors can be saved and recalled later. Purchase order review Once generated, purchase orders can be reviewed and edited. Using a Windows® tab-style format, you can easily switch among information for several vendors. Automated receipt and updates When shipments arrive, they are received against outstanding purchase orders by using a bar code scanner, manual counting or marking the entire order as received with a single entry.
Inventory levels and back-order status are automatically updated. Multiple ordering options Purchase orders can be printed or electronically transmitted as an OPC file. OPC transmissions can be scheduled to take place at selected times to take advantage of lower telephone rates or to meet ordering deadlines. Improved shortage management Long-lead back-order items can be reviewed and replaced if necessary by new purchase orders for equivalent items. Shortages can be filled with special orders that identify the trays waiting for material. Increased productivity Following lens calculations Innovations searches the lens database for appropriate lenses in stock.
Accurate inventory management assures that lenses chosen are actually on hand. Cost control Closely monitoring inventory may help identify inefficient stocking patterns or savings associated with minimum orders or alternative vendors.
